An academic symposium held in the second half of the year 2020 sponsored by the Korean Society of Climate Change Research (KSCCR) was held from Nov 4-6 under the topic of “Climate Change Risk Management and Zero Carbon Green Growth Strategy” in Jeju Island. The former Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, delivered a keynote speech of climate change and carbon neutrality by 2025. Participants of the conference presented papers and recent research work on the current climate challenge, Green New Deal, greenhouse gas emission reduction policies and energy initiatives at the conference.

Stakeholders in public sectors such as the National Weather Service, Environment Corporation(K-eco) an affiliate of the environment ministry, National Institute of Ecology, Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute, Korea Energy Economics Institute, Korea Rural Community Corporation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs(MAFRA) also joined and shared insights to tackle the current climate issues.
