According to Yonhap News,

Hyundai Motor Company joined hands with Jeju Self-Governing Province to establish an ecosystem of environment-friendly vehicles.

Hyundai Motor announced on July 6 that it signed an MOU to establish an ecosystem of eco-friendly vehicles and held a signing ceremony at Jeju’s Seoul Headquarters, attended by Hyundai Motor’s CEO Chang Jaehoon and Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong.

Hyundai Motor and Jeju are planned to cooperate in distributing green cars and expanding infrastructure to build the ecosystem of eco-friendly vehicles.

They will also make Jeju an electric vehicle-friendly place with installation of super high-speed charging stations, and cooperate in establishing an ecosystem of hydrogen by distributing hydrogen passenger/commercial vehicles.

To do this, they will embark on expanding the infrastructure for hydrogen electric vehicles by building a mobile hydrogen charging station using green-hydrogen, produced from surplus electricity from wind power generators in Jeju, for the first time in Korea.

In addition, they will operate a regular discussion committee to distribute eco-friendly cars while cooperating on fostering industries related to eco-friendly cars. Hyundai Motor also sees an opportunity in the fact that many tourists visiting Jeju use eco-friendly cars through rental car services.

Hyundai Motor’s CEO Chang Jaehoon said “We expect this MOU will play a stepping stone role in successfully building and expanding the ecosystem of environment-friendly cars,” adding “we plan to endeavor together with Jeju for development of various related industries by stimulating distribution of eco-friendly cars.”
