The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) said on June 1 that 'Joint Conference of the Korean Association of Ocean Science and Technology Societies', the largest marine science conference in Korea will be held on June 2-4 at the Jeju International Convention Center.

The Korean Association of Ocean Science and Technology Societies was founded in 1999, with marine science and technology institutions coming together to raise the people's awareness of development of domestic marine and science technology and ocean science. Currently, it has six domestic marine-related societies as members.

The first joint conference was held in 2005, with more than 15,000 papers published so far. This year's theme is 'A sustainable future led by marine science and technology'.

At the event, an award ceremony for the Future Marine Science and Technology Personnel, a joint symposium, and a joint workshop are scheduled. In the workshop, industry, academia, and research experts will be discussing 'ecological, social and economic sustainability' using marine science and technology, such as ▲ climate crisis ▲ carbon neutrality in marine and fisheries ▲ offshore wind power ▲ smart ports ▲ future of the shipbuilding industry. In addition, a total of 1,200 papers will be presented at 6 conferences.
