According to Yonhap News,

Both Jeju-do's Horse Industry Special Zone and Specialist Personnel Training Institute have clinched the No.1 spot for eight years in a row.

Jeju-do announced on Aug. 28 that the island was in the first place for the management review conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and therefore it received KRW 1.15 billion worth of public funds.

The province plans to use such secured funds for promoting the Horse Industry Special Zone alongside the Specialist Personnel Training Institute.

In Jeju are run three training institutes including Seogwipo Industry Science High School, as well as Cheju Halla University, and Jeju National University.

Since the island was first designated as the Horse Industry Special Zone in 2014, it has never lost the title.

"Even though the prolonged pandemic brought about the sluggish horse industry, Jeju still received such an excellent review," " we will continue to draw up support measures essential for horse's reproduction, fostering, and training, etc., and to pursue training experts in the horse industry," Governor of Jeju Province Oh Young-hun said.
