According to Yonhap News,

With an aim to become the first region to commercialize Urban Air Mobility (UAM) by 2025, Jeju-do disclosed its plan to carry out by-sector tasks such as pushing forward the project, finding the project models, and promoting and designated managers for the project.

Moreover, the province is poised to form a team in charge of the UAM project.

On Sep. 14, it signed an MoU for 'Jeju-style UAM pilot program' so as to develop drone taxis with the Korea Airports Corporation, SK Telecom and Hanhwa System.

This MoU will allow the Korea Airports Corporation to begin building and running a vertiport necessary for the UAM's commercialization.

In addition, SK Telecom is set to prepare the UAM communication network on the basis of its platform management know-how and relevant data.

And Hanhwa System will serve as an advisor in terms of specialized technologies for aircrafts, components and more.

"The advent of the Jeju-style UAM would bring an immense change to the current traffic system centering on cars. The province will do its utmost to foster an UAM industrial ecosystem while implementing coordinated and systematic policies." Governor of Jeju Province Oh Young-hun said.
