According to Yonhap News,

2022 Global Jeju Business Leadership Forum kicked off on May 18 that convened business leaders who had been born and grew up in Jeju to seek ways to promote sustainable growth on the island.

In the forum, Oh Young-hoon Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province delivered his opening remarks, titled 'New Opportunities and Challenges for Bright Jeju'.

Governor Oh emphasized, "All around the world is paying attention to 'the era of new transition era', and against the backdrop of this, investments in new opportunities are required to lay the ground for next growth."

He also elaborated on key tasks where the current Jeju government puts priorities, which include UAN, special zones of distributed energy, private space exploration, Jeju-ASEAN+α Policy.

He added, "We shouldn't be overwhelmed by upcoming challenges and failures. The jeju provincial government will actively support local business, so that they will lead our economy."

There sill be an orchestra performance in the closing event in hopes of Jeju becoming the host of APEC 2025.
