According to Yonhap News,

Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and internation organizations agreed to join hands in building a cooperative network for global peace.

In the session titled, 'Global Peace Cities Solidarity:Expanding Peace Cities to Pan Pacific Region for Sustainable Peace Promotion' of the 18th Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity held at International Convention Center Jeju (ICC Jeju) on May 31, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, World Summit of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate (WSNPL), and Pacific Rim Park - Ilan-Lael Foundation (PRP) agreed to enter into 'Cooperative Network for Global Peace'.

With the agreement, they set a clear goal to bolster the interorganizational cooperative network to better respond to ever-intensifying global issues such as COVID-19 pandemic, global economic restructure, climate change, and Sino-US rivalry.

Jeju expects this occasion will lead to more chances to make cooperation with the two organizations, PRP and WSNPS, in their projects, such as expanding peach cities, building parks for peace and hosting the World Summit. Through the tripartite cooperation, Jeju explained, Europe's efforts to make solidarity to foster peace cities will be reflected in the Pacific Rim.

Oh Young-hoon Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province said, "We will do everything we can to become a pivotal region for global peace and solidarity through the cooperative network."

Ekaterina Zagladina, President of WSNPL said as a keynote speaker, "Jeju is the very place where Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union visited for the 1991 South Korea-Soviet Union summit and later to deliver his last official massage before his death." and added, "I look forward to chances to open new sessions led by Nobel laureates in Jeju Forum. We will also seek an opportunity to host a World Summit in Jeju."
