On October 19, Jeju-do said that the 1st Green Hydrogen Global Forum will be held under the theme of "Leading the Clean Hydrogen Nation, Towards Sustainable International Collaboration" at the Jeju International Convention Center on October 23-25.

The forum will discuss global policies for a sustainable clean hydrogen and economy transition, investment trends of global corporates, and local government collaboration for energy transition.

The forum will be attended by Lee Jae-jeong, chairman of the National Assembly's Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee, Svend Olling, Ambassador of Denmark to the Republic of Korea, KIM Sang Hyup, Co-chairperson, Presidential Commission on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth, Lee Jung-yeon, Vice Chairman of the Committee for Decentralization and Balanced Development, Rebecca Maserumule, Chair of the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells on the Economy (IPHE), Moon Jae-do, Chairman of the H2KOREA and Song Rak-hyun, President of the Korea Hydrogen and New Energy Society.

In addition, companies such as Korea Southern Power, Korea East-West Power, Korea Gas Technology Corporation, Doosan Enerbility, SK E&S, SK Eco Plant, Hanwha Energy, Hyosung Hydrozen, Linde, and Equinor will be present.

Jeju-do will announce the province's plan to build a global hub for green hydrogen and a roadmap for energy transition at the forum.

Green hydrogen is hydrogen produced by electrolyzing water with renewable energy power, meaning clean hydrogen that does not emit carbon in the process of production.

Jeju-do has been test-driving buses running on green hydrogen since last month.

Jeju-do also became the first to open the Green Hydrogen Charging Station, completed in April, in Korea.
