According to Yonhap News,

The cumulative number of those who traveled to Jeju during the year 2023 surpassed 13.3 million.

According to the Jeju Tourism Association on January 2, the cumulative number of tourists to Jeju in the last year is tentatively 13.343849 million, surpassing 13.3 million for two years in a row.

With the arrival of the endemic period in the post COVID-19 era, the number surpassed 13 million for two consecutive years. However, it is a decline by 3.9% when compared to the cumulative number of tourists of 13.889502 million in 2022.

The number of domestic tourists stood at 12.63 million, accounting for 94.7 percent of the total, a drop by 8.45 % from 2022 (13.80358 million) when the number of domestic tourists reached an all-time high.

The tourism industry attributes that to an increase in Koreans' demand for overseas travel and a decrease in the number of domestic flights connecting Jeju.

Also, relatively slower recovery of inbound travel compared to outbound travel since the onset of the endemic also played a role.
