According to Yonhap News,

Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, which aims to commercialize UAM bt 2026, will make a high-precision electronic map to be used for the analysis of UAM operation route.

Jeju-do plans to produce high-precision electronic maps of 215 sheets in total covering 54.25 square kilometers, including Jeju International Airport and parts of Seongsan. The area per a map sheet is 0.25 square kilometers.

The province plans to build a high-precision electronic map based on a 1:1000 digital topographic map in the area, which belongs to UAM operation in Jeju.

With this map, Jeju-do will conduct the optimal UAM route analysis by applying the height values of topography and buildings.

A high-precision electronic map refers to digital geographic information in which various artificial features and topography including roads, buildings, and rivers are indicated in symbols, characters, and attributes, according to a certain scale.

Jeju plans to commercialize UAM by 2026, with planning for construction of UAM Vertie Port (large take-off and landing sites, transportation management centers, etc.) in Seongsan and Jeju Airport, the gateway to Jeju Island.

This electronic map project will be carried out as the province has been selected for the 2024 High-precision Electronic Map Project organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).
