The 'Challenge! J-Startup', a program that discovers and supports Jeju's creative tourism ideas, calls for participants.

On April 2, the Jeju Special Self-Governing Government and the Jeju Tourism Organization (JTO) announced that are calling for lparticipation forfor the "2024 Challenge! J-Startup," a project to discover Jeju tourism startups, by the 30th.

This year marks the seventh challenge, which started in 2018. The Challenge was designed to respond to the rapidly changing tourism market and contribute to the local economy, in such ways as the development of Jeju's tourism industry and job creation by coming up with innovative tourism ideas.

It has made such achievements as discovering and fostering 29 startups, creating 235 jobs, recording KRW 39.2 billion, and attracting KRW 8.6 billion investment by last year.

This year's theme for the Challenge is 'Jeju-based innovative tourism business'.

The provincial government and JTO offer public competition for tourism business ideas to improve the problems of the current Jeju's tourism by integrating with innovative technologies, and facilitate local tourism by taking advantage of the local trends (primary resources and natural, historical, cultural, etc.) and the latest tourism trends.

The provincial government and the JTO plan to select participating startups after document screening and presentation review, and support the commercialization of the ideas.
