According to Pulse by Maeil Business News Korea,

Jeju Island will host a forum on Thursday to benchmark Denmark‘s Sønderborg-led Project Zero as part of its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.

The island’s provincial government and the Jeju research center of the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) announced on Wednesday that they will host a Project Zero Jeju forum to develop strategies for achieving Jeju‘s carbon goals by 2035.

At the forum, Kim Dae-hoon of Danfoss Korea Ltd., the Korean branch of a key company behind Sønderborg’s Project Zero, will present the strategy for Project Zero Jeju.

The forum will also cover European energy transition cases, focusing on e-fuel and renewable energy-based heat management strategies for data centers.

SK innovation Co. will discuss its role in supporting Jeju‘s carbon neutrality, while Kim Han-ki, head of KIER’s Distributed Energy Division, will talk about excess heat utilization technology for electrolysis systems and the implementation of Jeju‘s carbon neutral island plan.

The event is part of Jeju’s efforts to adapt the Nordic carbon-neutral experience to the island in collaboration with academia, industry and research sectors to secure key technologies for its energy transition.

Jeju signed a cooperation agreement with the Project Zero team and Danfoss Korea in Sønderborg in September 2024.
