A data center for an AI infrastructure company will be established in Jeju Island.
On March 14, Jeju-do signed an investment agreement with BARO AI, an AI infrastructure company, in the provincial government building.
As part of this agreement, BARO AI will establish its second data center in Jeju, following the Hanam data center, in the second half of this year.
Both parties agreed to collaborate in various areas, including the development of the AI industry, job creation, and closing the digital infrastructure gap.
The data center will serve as a key infrastructure for the AI industry, forming the basis for the local AI ecosystem creation, and the province explained that it could also establish an eco-friendly model by combining Jeju's abundant renewable energy.
To support the smooth establishment and operation of the data center, Jeju Province will provide BARO AI employees with work environment assistance , including access to workation offices in Jeju-si.
Jeju's governor said, "BARO AI is a company recognized for its technological capabilities and growth potential both domestically and internationally," adding, "We expect Jeju to become a hub for the global growth of AI companies, linked with the digital transformation of Jeju".
CEO of BARO AI stated, "We have set '2035 Carbon Neutrality and Building a Global AI Innovation Cluster' as our core mission, together with Jeju," and added, "We will proceed with the new start in Jeju successfully and create meaningful results."
