The "2025 World Environment Day" event, hosted by the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), will be held on June 4-5 at the Jeju International Convention Center, Beuyeong Hotel, and Shilla Hotel in Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do.

On June 5, the event will include the World Environment Day ceremony, a ministerial-level roundtable, the Citizen Forum to End Plastic Pollution, and an international forum on nature-based solutions.
UNEP Executive Director Inger Andersen will meet with Jeong Young-mi, Vice President of the Jeju Haenyeo Association, to discuss the impact of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems and the lives of haenyeo and explore solutions.
During the event, Jeju Governor will meet with UNEP Executive Director Inger Andersen, the environment ministers of Bangladesh and Laos, and the Deputy Director General of International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN).
During the event, promotional booths will showcase Jeju's initiatives, including the 2040 Plastic Zero Jeju, 2035 Carbon Neutral, 265 Days of Plogging Jeju, resource circulation policies, reusable container policies, and the disposable cup deposit system.
