According to Yonhap News,

On July 10, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced that Ulsan-si, Jeju-do, and Chungbuk-do have been selected as the local governments participating in 'Smart City Data Hub Pilot Solution Development Project.'

Each of these local governments will receive up to KRW 1 billion in national funding.

Ulsan-si will develop an AI-powered predictive vacant house management solution based on energy data, linked with a regional data hub, to address various urban issues such as ensuring safety due to the increase in vacant homes.

Jeju Province, in collaboration with Jeju-si and Seogwipo-si, will create a "smart parking lot safety AI analysis solution" to tackle the chronic traffic and safety issues in the city centered around tourism.

Chungbuk-do, in partnership with Jecheon-si, will work on a "population-based local extinction crisis response solution" to promote settlement in areas at high-risk of local extinction and realize smart administration.

The project plans from the selected local governments will be available on the "Smart City Portal" (www.smartcity.go.kr) starting on July 14.
