According to Yonhap News,

On August 7, Jeju-do announced that it will establish an integrated platform for producing, storing, and utilizing green hydrogen using 100% renewable energy (RE100).

The key aspects of this project include the development of green hydrogen production technology utilizing renewable energy, securing management and operation technologies, and building a data-sharing platform to foster innovation.

Jeju-do will also focus on promoting the growth of companies in the green hydrogen industry and facilitating their market entry.

This project is being pursued as Jeju was selected for the "2025 Regional Technology Innovation Hub Development Support" program, offered by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

The project will receive a national budget of KRW 20 billion over the next five years, from this year until June 2030.

The Regional Technology Innovation Hub Development Support program operates by providing government support when local governments carry out projects required to connect national strategic technology development and regional industries.

An official from Jeju-do stated, "Jeju was selected for the project in the recognition of Jeju's green hydrogen technology capabilities and its potential for development" adding, "We will link the existing green hydrogen infrastructure and technologies to secure global competitiveness."
