3D electronic map to be created for solar panels and wind power facilities across Jeju-do
All solar panels and wind power facilities across Jeju-do will be mapped out in a 3D electronic map.
On August 18th, Jeju-do announced that next year, the entire island's public and private sector solar panels and wind power facilities, along with their generation capacity and attribute information, will be built as renewable energy infrastructure using 3D data.
With this project, Jeju-do aims to expand the adoption of renewable energy, supporting the 2035 carbon neutrality strategy, and expects to enable policy decisions based on scientific evidence, such as renewable energy generation potential analysis and site selection.
Jeju-do already has numerous renewable energy facilities, with renewable energy accounting for nearly 20% of total electricity consumption.
Additionally, Jeju-do plans to create a 1:1000 scale topographic map for a 75.57 km² area in Seogwipo-si next year.
This project will be carried out with national funding as Jeju was selected as the top winner in the "2026 National Budget-Matching High-Precision Electronic Map Construction Project" challenge, organized by the National Geographic Information Institute.
