According to Yonhap News,

MetaCNI, an AI system semiconductor company, has moved its headquarters from Gangnam, Seoul, to Jeju Island.

On September 16th, Jeju Province announced that MetaCNI, a system semiconductor design company based in Gangnam, Seoul, has recently confirmed the relocation of its headquarters to Jeju and completed the legal address transfer process.

MetaCNI is a fabless semiconductor chip design company that was ranked 8th in the '30 Power Innovative Companies in Korea - Semiconductor Sector' by Forbes Korea in October 2024, following Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.

Founded in 2018, MetaCNI specializes in AI system semiconductors for smartphone displays and ultra-high-resolution microdisplay low-power design technology.

In September 2022, MetaCNI established and has been operating a research and development center in Jeju Science Park.

Jeju-do expects the relocation of semiconductor small and medium-sized enterprises like MetaCNI, in line with the semiconductor fostering policies of the Lee Jae-myung administration, to have a positive impact on building a semiconductor industry ecosystem and restructuring the industrial economy in Jeju.

MetaCNI plans to complete the relocation by the end of the year, with signing a memorandum of understanding with Jeju-do on October 1st to create a semiconductor industry ecosystem, and plans to hire additional local staff from Jeju.

Governor Oh Young-hoon of Jeju Province stated, "With MetaCNI's headquarters relocation, we will work even harder to build an advanced technology industrial ecosystem suited for Jeju. We will also collaborate with local companies and research and development institutions to create a growth model that strengthens Jeju's economy."
