(Jeju = Yonhap News) Reporter Jeon Ji-hye – A "Smart Shared Logistics Center" has been completed and is preparing for operations to support manufacturing enterprises in Jeju Island—which face heavy logistics cost burdens due to the island's geographic constraints—by allowing them to jointly store, manage, and transport products.

According to Jeju Province on the 30th, the center was constructed at 266 Arail-dong, Jeju-si, with one basement floor and two ground floors, spanning a total gross floor area of 5,600 square meters. A total project budget of KRW 25.6 billion was invested.

Cold storage, which is most highly demanded by local manufacturing enterprises, is situated on the first floor, while ambient-temperature storage is located on the second floor.

The province expects that the operation of the center will allow for the storage of manufactured goods and agricultural products produced within the province, thereby easing the logistics cost burden on local manufacturers.

The province plans to establish a Warehouse Management System (WMS) to manage incoming/outgoing goods and inventory in real time, alongside a Transportation Management System (TMS) to oversee vehicle dispatching and transport routes. After conducting trial runs for overall facilities and equipment, it will officially launch the center's operations in September.

The center will be operated by the Jeju Economic and Commerce Promotion Agency under a public agency consignment framework. The Jeju Economic and Commerce Promotion Agency will manage the center once it finalizes the organization and workforce staffing dedicated to facility management and logistics operations.
