Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on August 20 that it signed an investment agreement with Bredis Healthcare, an ultra-sensitive biomarker analysis firm, at the Baeknok Hall of the provincial government building. Biomarkers are indicators used to identify physiological changes in the body through proteins, DNA, and other biological signals.

Based on its ultra-sensitive blood biomarker analysis technology, Bredis Healthcare is developing digital healthcare solutions that identify brain health risks at an early stage and integrate and analyze diverse data, including life log data collected via wearable devices as well as clinical and cognitive function information.

Under the agreement, Bredis Healthcare will invest KRW 1 billion (approximately USD 750,000) in Jeju within three years and hire at least 10 new personnel, including research staff. The company is currently establishing the Jeju Center in Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo City, with operational infrastructure set to be completed by the end of this month.

With this agreement, the province will accelerate its pledge under the 9th popular election term to "preemptively secure the region-tailored AI biohealth industry."

The goal is to demonstrate predictive and preventive services for dementia and chronic diseases by collecting biological data from local residents and tourists.

The province plans to provide administrative and financial support in accordance with relevant laws and regulations to ensure the company settles stably and its investment is executed smoothly.

"Based on the Jeju Center, we will refine our early diagnosis technology for brain diseases and digital healthcare services, creating a model with Jeju Province that contributes to enhancing residents' health and growing the biohealth industry," said Hwang Hyun-doo, CEO of Bredis Healthcare.
