According to Yonhap News,

Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration (KHOA) said on April 4th that the third International Tide & Water Level Meeting would be held at Jeju for four days from April 5th.

Int’l Tide & Water Level Meeting is a technical meeting of International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and a place to unify international chart datum and share information on disaster prevention. To this end, technological standards for sea levels including inland water ways and observation manuals will be produced at the meeting.

Experts from 11 countries including the U.S., the U.K., and Japan will gather for the third meeting to discuss technology agenda on tsunami observation, disaster prevention, and standards for water level.

KHOA said “the discussion at the meeting will be used to measure water ways, produce marine charts, and prevent maritime disasters, and consequently contribute to information service in the water way sector.”
