According to Yonhap News,

Jeju will embark on implementation of Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects for Cambodia and the East Timor.

It invested about 10 million won to build public wells using underground water in two villages to address water shortages in Cambodia's agricultural villages.

Jeju will have a donation ceremony in July after completing the project by the late June. If completed, the project is expected to help about 22,000 residents get access to clean water.

In addition, it plans to dispatch a joint investigation group consisting of members in both public and private sectors to the East Timor in July to designate ODA projects.

As Jeju proclaimed the year of 2012 as the first year of the ODA projects, it signed an agreement in March with the Korea International Cooperation Agency to work together to implement ODA projects in underdeveloped countries starting from Cambodia.

Both agreed to cooperate each other to develop projects, exchange information, train professional human resources and entice participation from non-government organizations.
