According to Yonhap News,
Jeju has recorded a new all-time high for the number of foreign visitors due to the increase in the number of Chinese tourists.
Jeju saw 164,787 foreign tourists, including 107,768 from China and 16,265 from Japan during the past month, an increase of a whopping 88.4 percent from the previous year's 87,464.
It already broke the record with 141,474 and 152,385 foreign tourists in April and May, respectively.
The number of foreign visitors to Jeju has doubled to 668,000, including 396,000 from China and 96,900 from Japan, during the first half of this year from last year's 339,000.
With Jeju designated as the World Natural Heritage Site and World Geopark, it has gained reputation as an attractive tourist attraction. In addition, increasing direct flight routes between Jeju and China and Japan and international cruise ships will lead to the growing number of foreign tourists.
Jeju expects that it could achieve its goal to attract 1.5 million foreign tourists this year.
