According to Yonhap News,

The global company IBM selected Jeju as a city to implement its 2013 support program for making an intelligent city, according to Jeju last Monday.

Jeju applied for the program, highlighting its achievements in winning three honors - named as the UNESCO World Heritage Site, UNESCO Biosphere Reserves and World Geopark.

A total of 31 worldwide cities including America's Buffalo City were chosen by IBM.

IBM will dispatch six experts to Jeju next year to collect and analyze data on the island's environment, transportation system, urban planning, culture, brands and marketing strategies and then suggest solutions with the USD 400,000-investment.

If completed, the program will play an important role in attracting more investment and tourists, Jeju expects.
