Jeju Tourism Organization (JTO) embarked on aggressive campaign in Jakarta, Indonesia to attract tourists.

During his visit to Jakarta, Yang Yeong-geun, President of JTO, said, "Indonesia ranks 3rd in terms of the number of visitors to Jeju among Southeast Asian countries, followed by Singapore and Malaysia." "We are discussing with the Indonesian government to facilitate Jeju's tourism industry."

JTO plans to target a growing number of middle and upper income earners in Indonesia, prompted by the fast economic growth, via promotion of luxurious tour packages in Jeju.

To this end, JTO is in negotiation with Indonesian carriers including Garuda Indonesia and Mandala Airlines to operate chartered flights between Jakarta and Jeju from June.

In addition, it held a seminar last Wednesday with Indonesian travel agencies to discuss how to develop Jeju's tourism products and lure Indonesian tourists.
