According to Newsis,

A motion, including main items for the institutional improvement of Jeju Special Law, has passed the Jeju Special Self-governing Provincial Council, except an item for allowing international schools’ fruitage remittance.

At the 303th provisional evaluation meeting held on February 27, the Autonomy Administration Committee of the Jeju Special Self-governing Provincial Council approved the motion submitted by the Jeju Special Self-governing Provincial Government after adding incidental conditions.

The motion included six main items that were selected among 73 institutional improvement items: modifying general subsidy-related law; permitting foreign universities to establish profit-making firms in the English education cities; allowing international schools’ fruitage remittance; discovering new financial resources for Jeju Tourism Promotion Fund; allowing private firms to sell underground drinking water; and improving old national highways. According to Article 9.1 of Jeju Special Law, the motion had to be approved by the Jeju Special Self-governing Provincial Council before the submission to the Supporting Committee for Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.

The Autonomy Administration Committee suggested reflecting additional institutional improvement requirements in the motion after holding a public hearing with the Jeju Special Self-governing Provincial Government, the Jeju Special Self-governing Provincial Council, and the Supporting Committee for Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The item for allowing international schools’ fruitage remittance has been excluded in this motion.
