The Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Government announced March 18 that it will invest KRW 28 billion to develop the distribution and processing of marine products, which include the modernization of related facilities and adopting hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP) systems.

The provincial government will invest KRW 4.3 billion in four on-farm processing facilities, KRW 5.2 billion in four storage and processing facilities, KRW 14 billion in a food processing center, KRW 300 million in 8 processing facility reinforcement projects, KRW 2.7 billion in three fish market facility improvement projects, and KRW 1.5 billion in an anchovy salting facility reinforcement project.

It will also provide consumers with safe food by expanding marine product processing and distribution facilities. It plans to reduce fishing expenses by modernizing infrastructures as well.

The provincial government will proceed with the “production + processing + distribution + export” policy to promote the growth of the Jeju area through the development of the marine product industry.
