A tour group of 1,200 people from Chinese health functional food company New Era Health Industry Group visited the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province for four days earlier this month, according to the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Government.

The group of salespeople and managers visited famous tourist spots including Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) and columnar joints at Jeju Jungmun Daepo Coast. They also had a dinner party at the International Convention Center Jeju, where an awards ceremony was held.

To attract the tour group, Jeju Governor Woo Keun-min had previously visited and persuaded the New Era Health Industry Group in Beijing. At the time, the company had been considering both Russia and Jeju as their destination. The tour group chose Jeju thanks to Woo’s efforts.

The provincial government expects the Chinese tour group to generate direct production effects worth KRW 4.3 billion.
