An international conference which covers various applied research including pure science, nuclear energy, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering and biotechnology is held in Korea. Pohang University of Science and Technology announced that it hosts the 8th International Conference on Multiphase Flow (ICMF) from May 26 to May 31 in Jeju. ICMF is held in every three years in the United States, Asia, and Europe. It is Korea’s first time to hold the conference.

ICMF is an integrated conference where researchers from various fields gather. Around 800 experts from 39 countries attend and about 700 publications including poster sessions is presented at the conference.

Multiphase flow is a phenomenon where two phases are present at the same time. It is a field of energy and momentum transfer which is applied to many industrial applications.

It can also be found easily in our daily lives when phase of coolants in refrigerators or air conditioners changes from air to liquid.

Some examples of the phenomenon are sprays and blood flow. The phenomenon is closely related to the safety and energy production efficiency of nuclear power plants and thermal plants.

It is also a field essential for many others such as biotechnology and mechanical and chemical engineering.

Along with President of American Nuclear Society Michael Corradini and Professor Stish Kandlikar at University of Rochester, researchers and experts in various fields will share and discuss the vision for future technology and industries.
