Jeju to Attract More Companies, Focus on Job Creation for Local Residents

(JEJU = Newsis) Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on February 20 that it will attract companies of the industries including health & beauty and online software that are suitable for Jeju’s business environment in an effort to create jobs for local residents.

The province plans to attract four locally specialized industries including health & beauty, marine bio, bio & convergence and culture & tourism, and 25 knowledge service industries including S&W development, telemarketing and service industries.

Also, it will attract local-oriented industries including the meat & vegetable processing and storing, food manufacturing, basic pharmaceutical compound and biological medicine industries, and four leading industries including wind power, organic health food, MICE and beauty & perfume industries.

In order to attract investment from the domestic companies, the province will carry out diversified investment promotion activities. It plans to attract training institutes of large conglomerates, which may have the great impact on the province’s tourism industry, and call centers as the engines for job creation.

The province will visit companies in the Seoul Metropolitan Area that showed interests in relocating to the province between March and May to realize relocation and investment within this year.

It also plans to carry out promotion activities including familiarization tours for companies in the Seoul Metropolitan Area.

The province attracted a total of 52 companies, induced KRW 200 billion investments and created 1,735 jobs between 2004 and 2013.
