According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) A biennial international forum on Korea's traditional wrapping cloth, "bojagi," will be held on South Korea's southern resort island of Jeju next week, organizers said Saturday.

Playing an integral part in the everyday lives of all Korean social classes for centuries, the colorful square cloth used to wrap, store and carry items rarely drew public attention. It has recently begun to gain media attention at home and abroad as Korea's leading traditional craftwork.

The highlight of the five-day Korea Bojagi Forum set to open on Sunday will be exhibitions featuring the works by some 100 artists from some 10 countries, including South Korea, the United States, Switzerland, Britain, Iceland, the Netherlands, Australia, France, Canada and Japan, presenting both traditional style and contemporary artistic creations.

The exhibitions co-titled "Bojagi & Beyond" will be held at five different galleries in the island's Jeoji Artist Village during the period.

There also will be a special exhibition of some items from the collection of the Museum of Korea Embroidery in Seoul, workshops pertaining to fiber techniques that have originated in Korea and lectures from some 20 leading curators, museum directors and artists from over the world.

Hosted by the Korea Bojagi Forum, a Seoul-based non-profit organization, the biennial festival was launched in 2012 in Paju, just northwest of Seoul.
