Reasons for Proposal

There is growing public interest in particulates, fine particulates, and other air pollution, and the associated deterioration of indoor air quality has also emerged as a social issue.

In particular, critics point out an urgent need to prepare such measures as requiring the ventilation equipment of buildings to be fitted with an air purification system.

Accordingly, the Amendment prescribes that the buildings for the use and of the scale prescribed by Presidential Decree shall be fitted with ventilating facilities within an air purification system, thereby aiming to address the issue of indoor air quality deterioration (Article 48-4).

Major Provisions

Obligate construction business entities to install ventilating facilities fitted with an air purification system as prescribed by Ordinance of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Article 48-4, paragraph 1)

Obligate construction participants, owners, and managers to install and manage the appurtenant structures of buildings in accordance with the standards prescribed by Ordinance of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Article 48-4, paragraph 2)
