Reasons for Proposal
A number of professional sports games have recently been charging adult prices for children, causing dissatisfaction among spectators.
The current Act does not contain explicit provisions concerning entry fees or admission fees for professional sports games. In most cases, admission fees are set autonomously according to team characteristics and there are no separate discounts for children. However, critics point out that in cases where parents have no choice but to attend a game accompanied by children, it is unreasonable to charge adult prices for preschool children younger than six.
Accordingly, the Amendment newly inserts provisions to prescribe the collection of entry fees or admission fees for professional sports games, and requires admission fees to be waived or discounted for children less than six years old, thereby establishing a more reasonable fee system (Article 17-2 newly inserted)
