Reasons for Proposal

In going to the movies, the running time indicated on the movie ticket includes the time for the trailer and advertising movie, etc., which lasts about 10 minutes before the relevant movie starts. This draws criticism from the public that the trailer and advertisement are being run without the consent of viewers, causing inconvenience to moviegoing experience.

Accordingly, the Amendment aims to require movie distributors to publicly announce or indicate on their website and the movie ticket the actual running time of the movie and the time required for the trailer and advertising movie, and to impose a fine for negligence of up to KRW 3 million in violation thereof (Article 41-2, etc.).

Major Provisions

Require movie distributors to publicly announce or indicate on their Internet homepage and the movie ticket the actual running time of the movie and the time required for the trailer and advertising movie, and to impose a fine for negligence of not more than KRW 3 million in violation thereof (Article 41-2, Article 98)
