Recently micro dust has come to the fore as a serious social issue since it is seriously endangering the national health. People living in the neighborhood of industrial complexes are filing civil complaints because of micro dust, odor, pollutants, etc. Yet, the current law merely provides that the industrial complex’s management agency can supervise the safety management, pollution management, environment management, etc., according to Presidential Decree and does not specifically stipulate the management agency’s responsibilities, etc.

Hence, the amendment will specifically state matters related to the industrial complex’s management agency’s responsibilities and management, such as having the occupant enterprise establish and implement pollution and environment management plans, take necessary measures to reduce pollutants and improve the environment, and take factual survey of matters needed for pollution and environment management, like pollution emitting companies, etc. (Article 44-2 newly inserted).
