According to Yonhap News,
(Sejong=Yonhap News) Reporter Yang Young-seok = Sejong City has successfully secured a KRW 7 trillion (approx. USD 5.21 bln) investment to establish an Artificial Intelligence Data Center (AIDC).
On the 8th, Sejong City signed a data center construction investment agreement at City Hall with SK Securities, Matheus Asset Management, and SEED H.
Under the agreement, SK Securities plans to invest KRW 7 trillion by 2029 to construct a 360-megawatt (MW) AIDC.
The municipal government will assist with licensing and permit procedures in accordance with relevant laws, while actively moving to resolve operational bottlenecks the companies may encounter in securing construction sites, power supply, and industrial water.
The corporate consortium stated its commitment to ensuring the investment plan—spanning capital procurement and infrastructure development—proceeds according to schedule.
Sejong Mayor Cho Sang-ho said, "Taking the construction of the AI Data Center as a catalyst, we will build an industrial ecosystem that attracts high-tech enterprises, research institutions, and top-tier talent, transforming Sejong City into a premier AI industrial hub representing South Korea."
