and SK HynixSamsung Electronics plans to build a new factory in Pyeongtaek, in addition to Suwon, Giheung, and Hwaseong, which will form the world’s largest semiconductor production belt in the world. SK Hynix will build a 4.15 million ㎡ semiconductor cluster in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, where it will construct four fabs over a ten-year period starting in 2015.

Company A
Company A has committed to investing over KRW 200 billion in Korea by 2028 to expand its semiconductor materials and components production facilities and R&D center. This investment is expected to enable the domestic manufacturing of new products essential for semiconductor production, including extreme ultraviolet (EUV) photoresists and chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) pads. Additionally, with the expansion of its packaging R&D center and other facilities, the company plans to create over 100 new jobs.
Company B
As the world's second-largest power semiconductor company, Company B completed the construction of a dedicated silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductor facility at its Bucheon site in October 2023. Silicon carbide is a next-generation material known for its superior durability under high temperatures and voltages, as well as its enhanced power efficiency compared to conventional silicon products. With a strong customer base among global automakers, Company B aims to position its Bucheon facility as a global hub for silicon carbide power semiconductor manufacturing.
Amid Korea’s push for carbon neutrality through initiatives such as the Green New Deal, Digital New Deal, and ESG policies, the demand for Company B’s high-efficiency power semiconductors is expected to continue rising. To support this growth, Company B plans to invest a total of USD 1 billion in its domestic manufacturing facilities by 2025.
