According to Yonhap News,

Busan City said on January 6th that it plans to aggressively attract overseas companies and contact centers in order to vitalize the regional economy and generate more jobs.

The City will set up a team to draw companies in the Seoul metropolitan area at the City’s Investment Planning Division.

Busan is known to be under negotiation to establish big contact centers and to relocate a large company in the Seoul metropolitan area to Busan.

Last year, 44 companies in the service and manufacturing companies and 12 contact centers have moved to Busan.

The City’s plan includes signing MOUs with JASVA, Japan Semiconductor Ventures Association, to acquire investment information, and with German Chamber of Commerce and French Chamber of Commerce.

Hwajeon Foreign Investment Zone will be sold in parcel to accelerate investment from foreign companies. Also, marketing activities will be conducted to induce investment in Mieum Parts and Materials Complex, focusing on Japanese and European companies.

Busan is negotiating for investment with foreign companies and research institutes in the auto parts, materials for atomic power plants, machinery parts, and bioengineering industries.
