According to Yonhap News,

‘The Busan Contents Market 2011,’ Asia’s largest broadcasting and new media contents market, will be held at BEXCO for three days starting from May 12th.

The market marks the seventh anniversary this year, and attended by 504 companies from 43 countries. The number of participating companies is 100 more than last year. The market will present broadcasting programs, new media contents, and cutting-edge facilities for about 1,000 buyers and 20,000 spectators.

The market will consist of ‘a sample market’ where various videos such as soap operas, documentaries, and animations will be sold by media operators of a number of countries, ‘BIZ Matching’ where investment advisors and companies in the broadcasting and video industry will have investment consultations, and ‘investment promotion seminars’ where the investment prospects for domestic and foreign contents markets will be analyzed.

Also, ‘BCM Academy’ will introduce how broadcasting contents are created to students majoring in the broadcasting and visual entertainment, and ‘BCM PLAZA’ will present new products of about 50 partner companies. Meetings with documentary film directors, production report conferences, and autograph signing events will enrich the event.

Korea’s three television networks of KBS, MBC, and SBS, BBC Worldwide of the U.K., Venevision of the U.S., TV Asahi of Japan and other leading global television networks will join this year’s Busan Contents Market.

Especially, famous documentaries will be screened and concerts will be held unlike the previous ones where B2B events were the main focus.

Participants will be able to see the trends of the smart media contents market with the display of 3D TVs, IPTVs, and cell phones.

The secretariat of the Busan Contents Market has concluded agreements worth USD31 billion last year and aims to sign contracts worth USD50 million this year.
