According to Yonhap News,

Construction of the exhibition center No. 2 of Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) has been completed.

The Ministry of Knowledge Economy and Busan City invested a total of 19.1477 trillion won to build a 20,000 square meter-exhibition center and a 42,000 seat-auditorium seven years after the exhibition center No. 1 opened in 2001.

The expansion makes the size of BEXCO (46,508 square meters) the second largest in Korea, following Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) (108,483 square meters) located in Ilsan.

BEXCO is expected to meet the demands of large-scale exhibitions in marine, shipbuilding and automobile sectors in the southeast metropolitan economic zone, especially Busan-Jinhae Free Trade Zone and organize international conferences in the huge auditorium.

Busan had successfully held the 2005 APEC Summit and 2011 World Development Aid Congress.

The completion ceremony attracted the Knowledge Economy Minister Hong Seok-u, Busan Mayor Heo Nam-sik, Lawmaker Seo Byeong-su and Yu Jae-jung, Busan City Councilor Je Jong-mo, BEXCO President Kim Su-ik and others.

"Exhibition centers contribute to increasing exports and facilitating the local economy. We have to further expand the exhibition center and organize large-scale international exhibitions to entice foreign buyers," said Minister Hong in his congratulatory speech.
