According to Yonhap News,
Busan Division of the Small and Medium Business Corporation and Busan City dispatched a trade delegation comprised of 10 Busan-based small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand for a week to organize export seminars last month.
The delegation group made substantial achievements by concluding USD 580,000 export contracts, providing 217 export consulting services and finding local exclusive agents.
Among SMEs that participated in the group, companies A and B signed export contracts worth USD 460,000 and USD 80,000, respectively, and discussed how to expand the trade volume.
A_MI Industry, an orthopedic support device manufacturer, received sample orders for the recently released brand SPOMED from local buyers, which is expected to translate into actual export contracts down the road.
Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry will also send an economic delegation group comprised of 20 regional companies to Myanmar and Vietnam from Tuesday to Sunday.
The group plans to find business opportunities with local companies there and benchmark the exemplary cases of Korean companies doing operation abroad.
Following the visit, the chamber will also dispatch additional economic delegation group to three ASEAN countries including Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei from December 1 to 7.
"ASEAN countries are the most dynamic market with increasing trade volumes in the aftermath of the effectuation of free trade agreements," said Park Jeong-su, Vice President of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. "We will support the entry of local SMEs struggled with the global economic crisis into the overseas market."
