After designated a special R&D zone, the Pukyong National University (PNU) is accelerating its efforts to transfer its technology for ocean plants and implement relevant projects.
The PNU opened Convergence Marine Plant R&D Center at its campus in Yongdang. Ocean plants refer to equipment and devices necessary for exploring and collecting marine resources including oil and gas.
The PNU agreed to transfer its public technology to ocean plant equipment manufacturers.
The center will provide core technologies for ocean plant equipment to 400 shipbuilding equipment manufacturers struggled with the decreasing number of ship orders.
The university was designated a special R&D zone, being recognized for its excellence in naval architecture and ocean engineering, IT and ocean plant technology.
Companies to be located in the zone will be subject to various incentives including tax reduction.
