Busan, which aims to become a medical tourism city of Northeast Asia, will hold the Busan International Medical Tourism Convention 2013 to introduce Busan’s medical technology and infrastructure to the world. This event is scheduled to be held September 6 to 8.
The municipal government held a briefing session April 9 that was attended by officials from the Korea Tourism Organization, the Busan Medical Industry Association, the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, and the Busan Tourism Organization.
Busan plans to establish a foundation to become a medical tourism hub of Asia, strengthen the competitiveness of regional medical technology, and attract overseas patients through the convention, which is expected to have about 30,000 visitors, including 100 representatives from medical institutes and agencies in ten or more countries, such as China, Vietnam, Russia, Japan, and Uzbekistan.
Busan will focus on developing competitive medical tourism programs by providing foreign visitors with opportunities to enjoy on-site medical care during the convention.
