The 13th World Korean Business Convention (Hansang) will be held in Busan next year.
According to Busan, the Overseas Koreans Foundation has chosen the city as a venue for the 13th Hansang.
To attract the convention, Busan continuously held discussions with regional government bodies and submitted an application to the foundation earlier this month. A special team comprising members of the Busan Tourism Organization and BEXCO held a presentation for the foundation. Many believe Busan’s successful hosting of the 6th, 7th, and 10th conventions helped the city win hosting rights to next year’s event.
Hansang, an international business convention held every year since 2002, aims to create a strong network by bringing together Korean firms in 170 countries. It includes a variety of programs, such as opening and closing ceremonies, a leading CEO forum, business meetings, exhibitions, a career fair, special seminars, and mentoring sessions.
The 11th convention held in Seoul last year was attended by 3,222 businessmen in 47 nations. Through 416 business meetings, it strengthened business networks among overseas Korean companies and generated production inducement effects worth KRW 10.4 billion, income inducement effects worth KRW 1.7 billion and 122 jobs.
“Representing seven million Korean businesses abroad, Hansang is regarded as the best chance for us to boost Busan’s image and gain economic achievements,” said a Busan official.
