Busan announced that the 36th meeting of International Organization for Standardization (ISO)’s Technical Committee for Geographic Information / Geomatics (TC 211) will be held in Busan from May 27.
ISO is an organization which develops internal standards for product, service, and practice specifications to make effective and efficient exchange of goods and services between countries. The ISO TC 211 with 65 member countries develops international standards for geographical information and holds two meetings a year.
The 36th meeting in Busan is hosted by the Korea Agnecy for Tecnhology and Standards, Korea Institute of Construction Technology and Korea Cadastral Survey Corporation and sponsored by the Ministry of Security and Public Administration, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Busan city. About 200 participants from 63 countries will attend the meeting which will have international workshops and general assembly. The meeting, which usually lasts for three days, is held for five days to serve as a good opportunity to promote Busan.
Mayor of Busan Hur Nam-sik, plans to invite participants to experience Korean culture. An official from Busan city also noted that the meeting will be a chance to acquire advanced information of international standards and speak for Busan’s outstanding infrastructure and competency to hold global events.
