Wilo Pump Held an Opening Ceremony

Wilo Pumps held an opening ceremony for its new plant in Mieum Industrial District in Busan Tuesday. Mayor of Busan Huh Nam-shik, Honorary Chairman of Supervisory Board of Wilo SE Jochen Opländer, CEO of Wilo SE Oliver Hermes and 200 others attended the ceremony.

The new plant of 32 thousand m2 on a 51 thousand m2 site was established with an investment of KRW 40 billion. The building has manufacturing and testing facilities for large products and next generation energy-efficient pumps which the demand is consistently increasing. Wilo Pump’s plant in Busan has started operations in January and is manufacturing products with advanced eco-friendly production facilities and inventory management system.

The plant will also be certified as an environment-friendly building, a rare example for a plant, as it uses renewable energy such as solar power and geothermal power, reuses rainwater, and is built with ecofriendly materials.

During the opening ceremony, Wilo Pump also signed an agreement of donation with Caspar Ludwig Opländer Foundation, a CSR foundation of Wilo SE, and Korea Water Forum.

Caspar Ludwig Opländer Foundation will sponsor Asia Pacific Youth Parliament for Water (APYPW) hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Korea Water Forum and the National Assembly Environment Forum of Korea and organized by Korea Water Forum.

APYPW is an official event to prepare the World Water Forum which will be held in Daegu in 2015. University students from Asia-Pacific countries will have a chance to experience Korea’s water management technology and facilities and receive training. With the agreement, Wilo Pump will donate KRW 130 million to Korea Water Forum for three years from 2013.

Wilo SE, located in Dortmund, Germany, is a leader in the field of HVAC and pump system. It has around 60 local offices and manufacturing plants and 7,000 employees with EUR two billion annual sales in 2012.

Wilo Pump, invested by Wilo SE in Germnay and Korea’s LG Group, was established in December 2000 based on the advanced technology and knowhow from Germany and distribution and service network of the LG Group.

Wilo Pump, renewed as Wilo in 2004, is expanding its business from water supply for buildings to industrial water management by developing innovative technology and holding active marketing activities resulting in a remarkable growth.

Choi Han-won, a Busan official noted that the city will focus on providing administrative efforts for Wilo Pump, the largest individual plant in Mieum Industrial District, can grow in Busan.
