Renault Samsung Motors announced today that it built the largest solar power plant of 20 NW in its Busan plant.
Renault Samsung Motors will hold an opening ceremony for the plant Thursday with 200 attendees, including those from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Busan city, Korea East West Power and KC Cottrell.
Power generated by the plant reaches up to 25,000 ㎿h annually. It is sufficient to supply electricity to Myungji city with 8,300 households near the Busan plant. Expected reduction in carbon emissions is 10,600 tons in a year, which is equivalent to planting 3.8 million pine trees.
CEO of Renault Samsung Motors Francois Provost noted that the company will lead the electric car market and launch the SM3 Z.E. electric vehicles produced in the Busan plant in the second half of the year, adding that Renault Samsung Motors will promote eco-friendly alternative energy businesses including electric cars.
Renault Samsung Motors also established a solar power plant of 1 MW in its Haman Parts Center January 2012 which is in operation.
At the opening ceremony, Renault Samsung Motors will display its SM3 Z.E. and hold a hand printing event to promote the company as an eco-friendly company.
