Busan will hold the Cloud EXPO Korea 2013 at Bexco from June 27 to June 29 to foster cloud industry and facilitate cloud computing with its new global data center.
The EXPO, hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning and Busan city and organized by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency and Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, will have exhibitions and conferences.
Around 100 will attend the opening ceremony, including Busan mayor Hur Nam-sik, Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning Choi Mun-ki, members of the National Assembly and industry insiders.
At the EXPO, products from around 100 companies in the field of cloud devices, networks, providers, security, convergence and support services await visitors at around 300 booths.
Lectures from Korean and foreign cloud computing experts and companies will be provided at the conference.
Following the opening remarks by Michael Hugos, CIO at Large of Center for Systems Innovation, experts from Korea and overseas, including Industry Manager of Google Korea Kim Tae-won and Lee Ju-seok from Nvidia, will give presentations.
CIO at Large Hugos is drawing attention as he is a well-known business and IT strategy consultant and expert in cloud computing.
Business consultations with participating companies with invited government officials from around 60 developing countries will also be held.
Busan has been in the spotlight as an optimal destination for cloud industry as it is located at where the undersea cable comes up to the ground.
Also the EXPO is significant in that it is the first time to hold an ICT event in countryside.
Busan city established Korea’s largest global cloud data center at the Mieum Industrial Complex to aim at becoming a global IT hub.
Mayor Hur noted that Busan has developed a mid- and long-term plan in May to foster the city as a global cloud hub, adding that EXPO is expected to help Busan lead the field of cloud computing.
