Busan Port Authority (BPA) held strategy meetings with four ports in Shandong Province (Qingado, Rizhao, Yantai and Weihai port), China yesterday and today to discuss logistics information system development and cooperative measures.

President of BPA Lim Ki-tack and representatives of the four ports first exchanged their views on building an international logistics hub. Increasing services at ports of call and cargo traffic and enhancing logistics system between Korea and China are the key agenda items.

They also looked over cooperative measures for maritime tourism including cruise ships. Topics were cruise program development, joint marketing, cruise port establishment and know-how sharing.

The representatives also sought measures to cooperate for building and operating an eco-friendly green port, informatization of ports and port security through information sharing, human exchanges, joint research and seminars.

Cooperative relationship between the Busan Port and the four ports in Shandong Province began in 2010 when Shandong Province port officials visited BPA in August.

Busan port and four ports in Shandong Province signed an agreement for strategic cooperation in November 2010, and strategic meetings were held in Qingdao and Busan June 2011 and last May respectively.
