BPA Introduces Ombudsman System

The Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced yesterday that it will operate a ombudsman system to promote uprightness.

The BPA will hold an appointment ceremony for the ombudsman Thursday.

The ombudsman consists of ten experts of executives of construction and shipping companies, professors, lawyers and former government officials. The number is the largest among those of public agencies in Korea.

It will hold a regular meeting for more than four times a year to review and check BPA’s services which amount more than KRW 1 billion and projects worth more than KRW 5 billion. The experts will also provide suggestions and advices to improve systems and develop the Busan port.

Under a slogan of clean Busan port, our uprightness, future of Busan port, BPA is holding various activities to improve uprightness of the port, including a consultation session, executive evaluations, consulting and trainings.

In the second half, the BPA plans to build a mobile system in which citizens can submit comments with smartphones.

Lim Ki-tack, CEO of BPA noted that through diverse and aggressive activities, including the ombudsman system, BPA will endeavor to become a role model for other public agencies.
